FAQ
How much water will I catch from my roof? For every millimetre of rain that falls, one square metre of roof area will provide one litre. The Colorbond and Zincalume Bluescope Steel used in Rainfill's custom roofing, curved and bullnose , is ideal for collecting water that can be filtered to potable quality.
Maximising your roof area will obviously maximise the amount you can collect. Adding patios, carports or extra storage areas with custom roofing can be a cost-effective, practical solution.
What can I use the collected rain for?
This depends on your water filters. Perth's Rainfill offers a number of filtration options. Depending on what you select, it can be used for:
- Washing machines
- Toilets
- Washing the car
- Gardening
- Drinking (if properly filtered)
What size container can I have?
Our corrugated tanks can be customised to suit individual requirements. A standard range of sizes are available here. You can choose from that list or have one fabricated one to suit your home.
The same applies for raised garden beds and raised vegetable gardens.
Are there any rebates available for rain water tanks in Perth?
At the moment, there are no general State Government rebate programs for rain water tanks in WA. However, for many in Perth, water tanks provide social and environmental benefits that far offset the costs. Along with taking pressure off other supplies, they can help offset the effects of restrictions as well as promoting conservation.
How often do water tanks need to be cleaned?
This depends on a number of factors:
- How clean you keep your gutters
- What type of filtration you use
- Location
