1) Where should I put my tanks?
  Ideally in relatively sheltered location, away from over hanging trees and not in full sun if possible.
 
2) How heavy is my tank?
  Generally your tank with be very light when empty up to 20kg plus. A full tank will weigh into tonnes with average size tanks weighing 2000kg – 4000kg when full.
 
3) How much water will I catch from my roof?
  10mm of rainfall on 1 square metre of roof allows for 10 litres of water to be added to the tank.
 
4) What happens when a rainwater tank is full?
  Overflow water needs to be directed away from tank and buildings, ideally onto an existing soak well; however a garden bed or waste area may be suitable.
 
5) What about Rainwater tank stands?
  There are many options are available. The weight of the full water tank needs to be considered when organising a base or stand for the tank.

Options for a base or stand include:

   1. Direct onto prepared sand pad
   2. Direct onto paved or concrete pad
   3. Rainfill earth ring
   4. Rainfill steel frame and timber decked stand

Rainfill staff can offer further information about the best stand for your rainwater tank.
 
6) How much water will I need?
  The amount of water you will need, depends on your usage requirements, people living in house, (gardens need larger tanks while toilets require less). Rainfill will work with you, to provide the right solution for your requirements.
 
7) Do I need to undertake maintenance for my rainwater tank?
  Regular checking of filters and gutters is minimum requirement and any additional, such as annual tank emptying and cleaning, is beneficial. Rainfill can assist with their maintenance programs.
 
8) What about water quality?
  There are many things which can affect the water quality in your tank: pollution, droppings, roof materials, paints, insects, rotten leaves, dust and incorrect installation. The quality of the water depends on the level of filtration. Water filters prevent leaves and other unwanted materials from entering your water tank and spoiling the quality of the rainwater you collect. A variety of filters, diverters and first-flush devices are available from Rainfill Tanks.
 
9) Can I put a garden hose on my tap?
  Yes, it will take standard garden hose (threaded tap). This is useful for watering by hand otherwise by water can.
 
10) Are there warranties available?
  BlueScope Steel provides a warranty on the quality steel utilised.

11) Does Rainfill do repairs?
  Yes, each repair or service request will be considered individually.
 
12) What's the smallest radius of curved roofing?
  300mm is the smallest radius available and as for the largest; the sky is the limit!
 
13) Is construction required for raised garden beds or planters?
  There is no construction required for Rainfill planters or raised garden beds and they can be moved easily by two people, ensuring you can find the ideal location within your garden. Please feel free to contact the friendly Rainfill team for to find out the amount required per planter.
 
14) How much soil do I need for my planter?
  The soil amount varies depending on planter size. Ask the friendly staff at Rainfill for advice.
